BP Australia – Upgrade of Tank Overfill Protection Systems

Overview

BP Australia operates a network of major fuel storage terminals across Queensland, forming a critical link in the company’s national fuel supply chain. To enhance operational safety and ensure compliance with BP’s global standards, Haz-Elec Industries was engaged as Principal Contractor to upgrade and standardise tank overfill protection systems at BP’s Cairns and Gladstone terminals.

Scope of Works

  • Removal of existing tank overfill systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Supply and installation of new Enraf overfill protection systems, including all control equipment and instrumentation.
  • Installation of new cabling, cable trays and mechanical support systems.
  • Commissioning of upgraded systems to BP’s revised safety standards.
  • Project management and coordination in accordance with BP’s HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) protocols.

Key Outcomes

Haz-Elec successfully delivered a fully compliant and robust overfill protection solution across both terminals, improving operational safety and reliability within BP’s critical fuel storage network. The project demonstrated Haz-Elec’s capability to manage and execute high-risk works in hazardous environments while maintaining full compliance with BP’s stringent HSSE requirements. Completed on time and without incident, the upgrade provides BP with a scalable and future-ready system architecture supporting long-term operational integrity.
